Text Box: Plans are currently underway to procure and install two 12,000 gallon water tanks to install in the Union Pass Area. These water tanks would be used as a year-round water source for the fire department to use in the unfortunate event of a structure fire in the area. The water supply could also be used by wildland firemen to resupply their trucks in the event of a wildfire.
Fremont County Fire Protection District has procured and donated the Text Box: two water tanks to the Dubois Rural Fire Department for use as an emergency water supply.
One tank has been designated to be installed behind the Union Pass Fire Hall, while the other tank is still awaiting a final location. Several homeowners in the area have offered their help and assistance to provide an installation location. Currently we are deciding which of the locations would best serve the entire area.
Preliminary plans have already begun to install the Text Box: first tank. Several various different installation methods are available. We are currently deciding on a final design which would best provide year-round access and support to the emergency responders.
Work should begin once the installation contractors have been awarded the final bid.
Completion of the first underground water storage tank is currently scheduled for late fall of 2003, with plans to install the second tank as time allows.
